... Not the beer ...
Are you guys sick of me in skirts yet? Clearly I'm not!
This little beauty is the Cascade Skirt by Megan Nielsen Patterns and it's my new favourite skirt pattern.
Megan Nielsen has carefully mastered the combination of easy sewing with a dramatic outcome. I mean this skirt demands to be worn on a Spring day skipping through a freaking meadow amiright!?!!
It's a floaty wrap-a-round skirt with a high-low hem and cut for maximum flowy-ness.
I used french seams to join the pieces together and hemmed the skirt with a narrow hem. Remember this Kimono I made a while ago? Well I loved the fabric so much that I bought some more and made this skirt out of it. It's a stunning silk from The Fabric Store.
This skirt can be made in all sorts of fabric, but I love the drape of it in a really fine silk such as the one I used.
And that's a 'wrap'! Get it!?
A super fast, no muslin required skirt that can be made in a number of hours and will make you feel like a lady. Yay for quick easy sewing!
Looks beautiful, would look stunning with an underskirt in matching colour do that detail really shone through!
ReplyDeleteoooh so clever to layer it like this! LOVE that fabric, it was absolutely right of you to buy more. gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a ballet skirt. Best version of the Cascade I've seen!
ReplyDeleteHooray for puns! And lovely skirt, truly :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKind regards,
Anna
i like this pattern a lot. Looks like it would be really fun to make. Love the fabric too. x
ReplyDeleteahhh thats so pretty! So flowy and flirty! you look lovely in it
ReplyDeleteLooks like the ultimate lady twirly skirt! :) I also have a new respect for anyone who can neatly hem flowy silk like that after my attempt of the Elle Apparel kimono. Need a friggin medal for patience!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! I'm so glad you got more of that fabric, it's amazing!
ReplyDeleteSoooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what a striking skirt! The colours, the hem, everything!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is perfect for the style. I do agree with Stacey though that it would benefit from an underskirt or lining. The transparency is distracting.
ReplyDeleteI love your skirt. I'm kind of regretting not buying the blue in this fabric when I saw it in the Fabric Store.
ReplyDeleteJust jaw-droppingly gorgeous! I'm getting some Rita Hayworth vibes from this...albeit a totally modern rockstar Rita Hayworth! You're just such a babe! You deserve to be floating around in sheer citrus and gold skirts everyday ALL day!
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is sooooo beautiful! I love that you're wearing it over a shorter dress. The look is super sharp :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a dream in this skirt!
ReplyDeleteThis one is super cute too!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is gorgeous.
