Man, I had no idea what is Mad Men before I read about this contest. What a madness! :) Well, I've no TV at home and Mad Men is not aired in the country I live in. Under the "pressure of community" I started watching the first episode this week.
ReplyDeleteHow much time and imagination all of you spent creating these amazing outfits! Each and one of them is so great! You, ladies, all look so glamorous and sophisticated! Next time I am so in ;)
Wow! All the dresses are fabulous! Amazing work, ladies. I wasn't able to participate in this challenge (having a newborn takes up ALL my time right now), but I do have plans for a sweet polka dot 60s inspired number for the summer. All your creations just make me that much more excited to get started!

I have anxiously been awaiting this post, and it surely did not disappoint! Love them all.
ReplyDeleteI only started watching Mad Men this year, but I'm totally up to date thanks to Netflix! And this season's first episode did not disappoint.
I grew up during these Mad Men times. I of course am Sally, and my mom would be Betty. Sadly, some parts of our lives parallel a lot of the events of the Draper marriage. My dad was just as devastatingly handsome as Don, and there was trouble...but all's well today.
I was up early this morning for this post!!!! Lovely dresses ladies!! Love them all! Haven't had time - was inspired by this post so I been sewing all day - to go to each individual blog to read up on the dresses... will have to clear my schedule sometime this week to read everyones blogs!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julia, awesome challenge :)
Totally mind blowing awesome!!! Everyone did such a beautiful job!!! I discovered this project & blog just recently and couldn't get in on it, but I have to make something now too!! This is a great source for inspiration!!!! Good job everyone!!! Mad Men Rules!
ReplyDeleteI love all the dresses! I hope one day I will be good enough at sewing for making my own mad men dress
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting this challenge, Julia! It's so nice to see the other participant's dresses and inspiration! I get even more inspiration now, and want to continue the challenge... So many ideas and great dresses! AND I need to see season 1-4 once more, just to catch up both sewing ideas and before seeing season 5. Again, thanks for hosting!!!

That was fun to look at!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm almost all teary now seeing the incredible amount of talent and beauty all piled into one post! Amazing and inspiring! :)
ReplyDeleteI SO want to do my own now... do you think you will have another Mad Men challenge in the future? :)
These turned out LOVELY ladies! I'm very jealous! My own Mad Men dress is 98% done--I have to insert the zipper, re-do the sleeves (they look more 80s prom than 1960s chic), and hem the bottom. Would've been done on time if my feed dog gears hadn't pooed out on me.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love ALL of the gorgeous dresses!
ReplyDeleteoh, it makes me so happy to see so much talent and beauty in these dresses. fricking amazing!!! and so excited for the give-away! im so inspired right now... joan you have my heart!!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm so envious of all these dresses!

ReplyDeleteJulia, I think this has been a fantastic challenge. Although I have not taken part (or even seen one episode of Mad Men - shocking I know. I need to hire me some episodes from the dvd shop!) I have absolutely loved seeing the inspiration drawn from so many fabulous sewers. I love seeing all the dresses. Great idea! ReplyDeleteWow, these are all amazing!!! I wouldn't even be able to pick a favourite as they are all stunning dresses and stunning ladies wearing them. Well done everyone. I still haven't finished mine :-(
ReplyDeleteThese are all so fabulous & gorgeous & amazing! Also, I've discovered about 12 new lovely blogs -- thanks for hosting such an awesome sewing challenge! (It's totally inspired me to stitch up a glorious green Joan dress of my own!)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is what an astounding amount of sewinf talent there is out there. I didn't do the Mad Men challenge, but having seen these I'm inspired.
ReplyDeleteI found your site while poking around the internet looking for inspiration after my daughter asked me to make her a 1950s style sundress. I am not a watcher of Mad Men, but I loved the dresses you made so much that I bought Butterick 5603. Can't wait to get started, (after I finish the sundress, of course). All of your dresses are beautiful. Great work!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fabulous post!
ReplyDeletethis is very very helpful as I look for inspiration for a VIP event that I am going to. Thank you so much!
