ReplyDeleteThat's one hell of a first giveaway (in both fabric and $ terms) and that pattern is delicious. What about making the wide collar band (over which the pleats climb) in a contrasting / different colour to the rest? Hard to see if that's possible without seeing the back...I am aware that's not a colour suggestion :-)

As for the color of that dress, you've done lots of black, white, navy, and red, and those colors really work for you. I'd do this dress in navy or in red, a matte fabric, so you can dress it up for a party or down for dinner out with your husband. If you want to move into other shades, you could try a rich, jewel-tone purple or a pink in pretty much any shade. :) I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

I swear Julia i have seen you before - i did a pattern review search under pattern B5320 Butterick - the wrap dress with large collar and I swear it's you who popped up on flickr! Well i hope it was as now i have made a fool out of myself if it wasn't you. You made a beautiful white dress - well the pic was my inspiration to make the dress in a khaki tone for a wedding - and it was a hit.
